The Last Prayist
In a world where the gods have returned to harvest humanity for their final war, a soul-reaping outcast possessed by two warring archangels crosses a rival's territory to find the daughter he abandoned — and to give her the one gift that might save her, whether she wants it or not.
In development · Early draftThe gods came back through a hole in the world, and they are still hungry.
A generation after the Great Cataclysms drowned the coasts and drove the dead from their graves, humanity clings to a handful of storm-battered plateaus while monsters — and worse — hunt what's left below.
Angus Archard is a prayist: one of the damned few who walk among the survivors, marked to harvest souls for the armies of Order and Entropy before the Reclamation, the final battle, begins. Unlike any prayist before him, Angus carries burdens for both sides — and he wants rid of at least one of them, at any cost, if it means saving the daughter he lost track of during the world's ending.
But the road to her runs through another prayist's territory, a mysterious Messenger who never lies and never tells the whole truth, and a debt Angus isn't sure he can survive paying.
